The Main commands

When you push A button, the main commands appear. The main commands are these 6: examine (しらべる), items (もちもの), skills (わざ), status (つよさ), join hands (てつなぎ), and say (いう). Click the pictures to expand. First, I will introduce the commands mainly used in offline mode.

Commands5.gif

Command 1: Examine (しらべる)
You use this command when you examine something, talk to somebody, open a chest, attack a monster and so on.This command is usually grayed and cannot be used on anything, but when a white arrow appears over something and the command turns black, you can use it.
Some events start when you talk to a character or examine something.

Weapons, shields and accessories are included in this item list. You can't carry more than 13 items (12 in online mode). Push X button to arrange items. These three commands are very important.
Use (つかう): To use items such as Herb (やくそう) and Restorative (かいふくやく), use this command to select the item and then press the A button. If you want to use an item on one of your companions, select the companion with the red arrow before pressing the A button. This command is also used with certain weapons and shields.
Hold out (さしだす): When you want to make companions equip something, or when you want to give an key item to a character, use this command on that person. You can also hold out borus (push A button on the numbers of money, decide how much to hold out, push A. If you give borus to companions or offline questers, they won't give it back.)
Equip (そうび): Use this command to equip weapons, shields and accessories. To remove them, use this command again. An equipped item has this red icon 魔王編に使った画像 beside it in the items list.
Throw away(すてる): When you want to throw away needless items, choose this command and choose "yes" (はい). But you can never pick it up once you threw away. (On your screen it is shown that you threw an item away, but other online questers can't see the message.) You can't throw important items which is related to progress some events. Kamonau Obaba (カモナウオババ) on the quester park can keep the key items.

You can join hands with your companions, or other online players. In battles, you can attack stronger by joining hands with using pow points (Joining hands attacks). You can also use some other mascots' skills by joining (Joining hands skills). For example, Kirara's (キララ) reflecting barriers (はんしゃバリア), Pinoc's (ピノック) regular healing (かいふく) and so on.

Command 6: Say (いう) shortcut: D-pad
This command is mainly used online, but some events demand you to say some words. (ex. ウーモンパ the lost child event in Kaneru.)

Basic Guides: Text Input

Text Input System
Keyboard controllers are not available in Homeland. You use Text Input Panel to input a word. At first it is difficult to input words, but it is a very flexible tool to communicate with other online players. Until you get used to it, don't rush and input one by one. If you don't want to talk much online, it is enough if you don't forget to greet and thank others.

Text Input Panel
When you Say いう and Shout to everyone みんなにさけぶ, the Text Input Panel appears.

The differences between Say and Shout to everyone

Everyone on the server can see what you Shout, while only someone around you can see what you Say. And Shouted words are shown on the bottom of the screen and remain in history (りれき) so you can see it later, while Said words are shown on speech bubbles and will soon disappear.
God players certainly can see what questers Shout, but sometimes they can't see clearly what they Say. If you want to tell your words to a god player, I reccomend to Shout than Say.

In Quester Park, Timote has the secret book of fast speaking.
(はやくちトラのまき)

1. Push D-pad to Say quickly.
2. Push start button to finish your text input.
3. X button can change an input word capltalized or uncapitalized.
4. L button can switch Hiragana ひらがな and Katakana カタカナ.
5. R button can input a space.
6. It is faster to choose W → Z than to choose W → X → Y → Z.

Basic Guides: Battling

Battling
In this page, I'll introduce the basic battle commands and system.

Bind バインド
If you are stuck to a monster, a battle begins. In Homeland it is called Bind バインド. When you Bind a monster, the battle commands Attack こうげき, Run にげる, Guard ぼうぎょ appear. You can use also Skill わざ and Item もちもの commands in battles. Battles proceed in turns. When you do one action, then the enemy does one.
Bind and Not Bind copy

Attack こうげき
Choose one monster to Attack with a red arrow, then you Attack. You need to Equip そうび a weapon to Attack with it. Basically, Attack command doesn't cost power points (pow).

Skill わざ
You can also use Skill わざ to attack enemies or heal your life points. Some skills and spells are effective on Binding enemies only (Binding-only Skills), and others are effective from distance (Distance skills). For example, the spells of Ho ホ and I イ are Binding-only Spells, on the other hand, the spells of Hodon ホドン and Izu イズ are Distance Spells. To distinguish spells (skills) of Binding-only or Distance, look at the circle which appears after you choose spells.
Circle2
In Distance Skills, when a target is in the circle, a red arrow appears. Then you can choose which target you use the skill on. If a target goes outside of the circle, you can't use that skill.

When you attack from a distance (in non-Binding situation), your action is not counted in turn so you will not be attacked by enemies. However, some monsters have Distance Skills as well, and such monsters attack you from distance.

Guard ぼうぎょ
The command Guard can reduce physical damage. However it is counted as one action, so enemies attack in their turn. You can't Guard while you are Join Hands with your companions.
Especially online, when your level is low, I don't recommend to Guard. If there are some higher level questers around you, I recommend to wait until they help you. If you don't act, then enemies don't attack you.

Join Hands てつなぎ
You can Attack harder with using pow while you are Joining Hands with your companions. The pow cost changes according to your level. You can release hands during battles, but you can't Join Hands during battles.
You can use skills of other mascots through Join Hands (ex. Pinoc's Healing かいふく, Kirara's Reflection Barriers はんしゃバリア, and so on).

Run にげる
Run.gif
When you Run from battles, you can choose which way to Run. Even if you failed in one direction, sometimes it succeeds in another direction.
Run command is also counted as one action, so if you failed, the enemy attacks you in their turn.
When the status of Speed すばやさ is high, Run command tends to succeed. However it tends to fail when your level is low compared to the enemy level.

You can't Run while you are Joining Hands with your companions.

Unconscious きぜつ and Retry やりなおす
きぜつやりなおす
When your life points become 0, you will be Unconscious きぜつ. Select Retry やりなおす and then select Yes はい to return to the town last visited. When you Retry you lose half of your money and 5% of your Clear Points will be deducted (げんてん) at the end of the game. However, you will not lose more than 50% of your Clear Points in total if you have to Retry many times.

With the command Status つよさ, you can check the total deduction you have now.
Subtract.gif

When you press the Start button and the L button at the same time, the command Break ちゅうだん changes into Retry やりなおす. Deduction also is added when you choose this.

Notes; RP = Rurero ルレロ & Purify じょうか.
The spell of Rurero ルレロ and the skill of Purify じょうか, and the item Cure-all ばんのうやく can cure all abnormal status except Unconscious.

Notes; Skills and spells
Both skills and spells are in the command Skill わざ, but these two are different.
It is necessary to Say spells to use them, and spells are always with this spell mark below.  (ex. Puyu プユ, Izu イズ, Hono ホノ)
spell_mark2.gif
When you become Silenced くちどめ, you can't use any spells because you can't Say. On the other hand, you can use skills while you are Silenced, because skills do not require Say. (ex. Healing かいふく, Reflection Barriers はんしゃバリア, Meditation めいそう) However when you become Rooted かなしばり, you can't use any skills because you can't move. However you can use spells as long as you can Say.

Picture 3; Always in Homeland, the left is yes (はい) and the right is no (いいえ).

picture 4 picture 5 picture 6
4つしらべる 冒険にでかける パーク

Picture 4; Examine (しらべる) 4 points in picture 4. The first question of the quester test decides which mascot you will get, Block or Ganto. The question is, "what do you do when some troubles happened?" If you choose the option "I'll solve it with my strength (ちからで かいけつ!)" you will get Ganto. And If you choose "I'll solve it with my intelligence (ずのうで かいけつ!)" you will get Block. After the mother says "Clean your wardrobe!", Examine the wardrobe again.
Picture 5; Angel (テンシ) appears and tells you can be a quester because you passed the test. A quester is a person who helps the people in troubles. Angel gives you two mascots: Pinoc, and Ganto or Block. In Homeland, you change into a mascot to explore. Examine the mascot box and choose one mascot you like. After you change into a mascot, talk to Angel and choose yes (はい).
Picture 6; Angel takes you to the other world Endeparuna (エンデパルナ). Quester Park (クエスターパーク) is the first place you visit, which is in between the lower regions and the heaven. You can go different towns through Quester Park, but no towns are opened at the beginning. Talk to Angel on a blue mark to go down to the lower regions.

Picture 7; You will land on Cloots Village (クローツむら). Inns and shops are in towns and villages. The mark of medical herb means Item Shop (どうぐや), and the mark of a shield means Weapon Shop (ぶきや). The mark of a bed means Inn (やどや).
Picture 8; The monsters attack you on the fields. The green bar on the top is your Life Points (ライフ), and the blue bar is your Power Points (pow パウ). If you lose all of your life points, you will lose and collaspe. You need Pow to use skills and spells. Your Life and Pow will be completely recovered when you use the inns. About battles, more details will be explained later.
Picture 9; Save the game. Push start button, then three options appear: りれき (History), ちゅうだん (Break), and せってい (Setting). Choose ちゅうだん (Break) to stop playing, and choose Yes (はい) to save the game. You can turn off the master switch after the sign appears (ぼうけんを きろくしました。Your adventure is saved). After save the game, you go back to your room. To restart the game, talk to Angel.

To proceed a scenario, see articles in Scenario Guides. However, you cannot proceed in Oragon and Devil King scenario at the first offline play.
After you finish one scenario offline, you will be able to play online mode.
If you want to play the book of 100 years ago, you need to finish Devil King scenario.
